A New Day…A New Song

“God places a song of hope and life into the hearts of his children.  Sometimes we sing it loud and long every day. But sometimes the song falls silent.  Life’s troubles can be overwhelming and can mute the song within. But God walks alongside still singing that song of hope to His wayward and wounded children.  Eventually they hear His voice singing over them and something inside them is stirred.  They’re reminded that He’s always been there patiently waiting for thier return.  It is then, when wounded are healed and forgiveness reigns, they begin to sing again.”

I was in that place not long ago and it took me a long time to hear Him singing over me. Hurt, pain and unforgiveness silenced His voice for a long time.  I couldn’t even pray.  Betrayal of man left my heart broken seemingly unrepairable.  I even began to doubt the goodness of God.  I felt so alone.  But God… in His patient love, knowing all that is in my heart, turned back this wayward woman.  I allowed Him to begin to heal… asked for and received His forgiveness…As the verse says… He takes delight in me, calms my fears, rejoices over me wth joyful songs… AMEN! Now… His song rings louder and sweeter in my heart than ever.

What about you? If you’re struggling to hear His voice take a moment and honestly examine your heart. Is there anger there?  Maybe someone hurt you or betrayed you and you are finding it hard to forgive them.  Maybe there is something you are waiting for God to do and you’ve grown weary in waiting.  Whatever is keeping you from hearing the joyful, loving, life giving song the Lord is singing over you, release it… open your clenched hands and let go of it.  It’s not easy, I know. Sometimes you have to pry your fingers open one by one.  But do it.  That’s how I had to do it.  It’s so easy to remain angry, or bitter towards a person or situation.  So much harder to let go of it and allow the Lord to pour His love and forgiveness over your hardened heart.  Do it.  Let Him sing His joyful songs over you… join in the song once again.

This song has helped me through this dark time.  God used it to help me regain perspective.  Take a few minutes and let it minister to you as well.
